Welcome to Alice Cottage

Alice Cottage is our beautiful, Victorian semi-detached cottage, which is nestled on the edge of extensive woodland on the Royal Sandringham Estate in North Norfolk. It was renovated in 2001 and renamed after the lady who had lived there for many years.

The cottage is in Wolferton, a pretty village just off the main coastal road, which has no through traffic due to the marshes and sea on the other side. There are many heathland walks, and access to the Dersingham bog and nature reserve; a haven for bird watching and nature walks. Wolferton is also known for its golden pheasants. There is a lovely church and social club. Wolferton and Sandringham are at their prettiest in May and June when the rhododendrons are in full bloom.

Wolferton is probably best known for the Wolferton Royal Railway Station. This was opened in 1862 after Queen Victoria purchased Sandringham House as a Norfolk retreat. The station closed in the 1960’s and was completely renovated and converted to a residence in the late 90’s.

Wolferton is a great place to escape from a busy life and enjoy the surroundings, but it is close enough to visit the beautiful beaches and villages of the North Norfolk coast and the bird reserves at Snettisham and Titchwell. The historic town of Kings Lynn is only 6 miles away and the next village of Dersingham, which is 2 miles away, offers most amenities.
